A Nurse Anesthesiologist’s Triumph at Ginang Filipinas America 2025

When Yvonne Yngson Gochangco, MPH, MSN, APRN, CRNA, stepped onto the stage at the Ginang Filipinas America 2025 National Competition in Tacoma, Washington, her poise radiated not only grace but also purpose. By the end of the week-long event, held from September 1–6, 2025, she was crowned Grand Winner—a title that celebrates not just beauty or charm, but a woman’s capacity to lead, inspire, and uplift communities across borders.

Born and raised in Iloilo City, Philippines, Yvonne’s story is a tapestry woven with resilience, faith, and a deep commitment to service. The eldest daughter of Mr. Teddy Divinagracia Yngson, a businessman, and Mrs. Cecilia Ylmido Yngson, a retired professor at Iloilo Doctors College, she grew up in a family that valued education, hard work, and compassion. Those values would guide her from the bustling streets of Iloilo to the halls of one of America’s top medical institutions.

A Board-Certified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Anesthesiologist, Yvonne earned her master’s degree from the Wake Forest University School of Medicine Nurse Anesthesia Program in North Carolina in 2009. Her journey in healthcare reflects the excellence and tenacity of Filipino nurses—professionals who bring both skill and soul to their calling.

Beyond her clinical achievements, Yvonne embodies leadership with heart. As Founder of the Promise of Tomorrow Global Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, she has championed educational access for underprivileged students through scholarships, mentorship, and the distribution of school supplies across underserved communities. Her foundation’s work reflects a vision rooted in her own upbringing: that every child, regardless of circumstance, deserves a chance to learn and dream.

Winning the Ginang Filipinas America title signifies more than a crown—it represents a celebration of identity, intellect, and influence. The competition recognizes Filipinas in the United States who exemplify empowerment through education, professional excellence, and community service. For Yvonne, the award affirms that success in the diaspora is not just about personal achievement but about using one’s platform to create ripples of change.

Her dual identity—as a nurse leader and cultural ambassador—positions her as an inspiration for the global Filipino community. Whether in the operating room or in humanitarian work, she demonstrates how compassion, courage, and culture intertwine to shape transformative leadership.

In her acceptance remarks, Yvonne shared that the recognition is not hers alone but belongs to her family, mentors, colleagues, and the communities she serves. It is a testament to how faith, purpose, and persistence can carry one from humble beginnings to global recognition.

Her victory also shines a light on the evolving narrative of Filipino women in the diaspora—resilient, educated, and deeply rooted in the values of service and humility. Through her foundation and profession, Yvonne continues to bridge borders, uplift others, and remind the world that the heart of Filipino excellence beats wherever compassion and courage are found.

As she returns to her clinical and philanthropic endeavors, the world sees not just a pageant winner, but a modern-day Filipina whose life exemplifies what it truly means to be Ginang—a woman of grace, purpose, and power.
